This sporty and adventurous 6-day sea kayaking journey takes place in the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea off the north-east coast of Sicily, Italy. This guided Sea kayak tour explores islands such as Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Panarea and Stromboli, offering an active holiday experience in Sicily. Some experience with sea kayaking (sit-inside) or participation in a basic course is recommended, to enjoy the journey more safely and confidently. The itinerary includes several variations depending on the season, weather conditions, ferry availability and the skills of participants.

We begin with the circumnavigation of Vulcano, discovering its extraordinary sea caves, natural pools, and hidden thermal waters among the rocks. If weather permits, the trip continues by kayak towards Salina, along the western or eastern coast of Lipari, with its impressive sea stacks and many surprises along the way. Depending on the weather and the group’s skill level, the crossing to Salina can be done either by kayak or by ferry. If done by kayak, it is an exciting open-sea crossing of about 2 nautical miles, taking us to the lush, green island of Salina, where we will explore part or all of its coastline.
 Next, we transfer by ferry to Stromboli, where—depending on the season, group capabilities, weather, and ferry availability—we will spend two days between sea kayaking excursions and hiking among Stromboli, Ginostra (the most remote and isolated village in the Aeolian Islands), accessible only by sea, Panarea and its wonderful archipelago. The journey concludes with a ferry return to Vulcano, on the sixth day, arriving around 6:30 PM.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner may be prepared and enjoyed on the beach (picnics or meals cooked on-site), or at local bars and restaurants along the way, depending on group preferences (Check out what’s included in the price). Overnight stays will be outdoors in bivouac (What to bring for multi-days trips), but upon request—even at the last minute and occasionally — participants may opt to sleep in B&Bs or hotels (not included in the price), depending on their needs.

Hiking:

In the afternoons, there’s the possibility of hiking on active craters or exploring various trekking paths on Vulcano, Salina and Stromboli, depending on weather and volcanic activity. This adds a unique touch to your active and adventurous holiday in Sicily.
